Situated near Johannesburg, in the Cradle of Mankind (a UNESCO World Heritage site), African Floralush is a proudly South African, and African, company in every way. We are privileged to be partnered with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
African Floralush selects only premium grade flowers and foliage; grown locally under internationally recognised good-farming practices; for our products, and preserves them through a process that involves early harvesting, storing the flowers at optimal temperatures and using innovative technology.
Our treatment process is eco-friendly and involves the use of inert chemicals and recycling all waste products. Our naturally preserved flowers also leave a smaller carbon footprint than artificial and fresh cut flowers, because they do not require refrigeration during distribution and do not have to be air freighted, which means a significant saving in harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
Our factory employs both South African nationals and Zimbabwean refugees; a decision based on our view that the broader African context constitutes a crucial part of our social responsibility. This is also reflected in an emphasis on training and skills development; not only for our staff, but also local subsistence farmers to enable them to grow and supply fresh flowers for our treatment plant.
